First North Midlands XC
The traditional first North Midlands XC took us to Markeaton Park in Derby. Greeted by warm sunshine and as ever fierce competition, UOLRAC thrived! The ladies were up first, brought home by a fantastically strong run by Frances! After a solid opening lap and a slight wobble on the second she stormed home to 18th! She was followed home by Laura Jones (96), Abie Hearmon (113), Zahara Gambarova (119) and Harriet Smailes (122). A great effort from all the Ladies that placed them 12th in the team table. They’ll be looking to push on from this great start!
As the men began a new era without the infamous Stephen James Parkes, a new Stephen hit the forefront to lead home the men’s team. Stephen Headley produced a stunning first lap and two furthermore courageous laps to finish a solid 20th! Second in was Daniel not hungover this time Mladenovic in 53rd. Debutant Matt Stevens (94), Captain Steve Ellis (137) and James Finnie (152) secured the Men 12th team on the day. Last but not, least rounding out the team was Alex le Grezzzzzzzzley in 201st. Also in the field our fellow friend Christopher James Parkes-Bowen finished in 174th on his debut for OWLS AC.
