Team Leicester Open Meet 2018

This year's open meet was a great success! An excellent range of athletes competing in all the events with some great performances and PBs.

Big thanks to all the officials and Saffron Lane, and shout out to Abie and Finnie for organising a great event!

Some notable mentions for UOLRAC:

  • Andrew Holland (4:43) and James Finnie (4:32) running PBs in the 1500m

  • Laura Kidd for winning the Leicestershire and Rutland County steeplechase championships for women 2k

  • Adam Gardiner for a new club record in the high jump of 1.65m

  • Abie Hearmon for a new club record in the discus of 14.44m

Open Meet 2017

Last year's years Open Meet took place on Saturday 18th March 2017 at Saffron Lane Athletics Track, and was a fantastic success. There were some exceptional performances across the club and showcased a lot of talent from other local clubs too. Thanks to Kyle and Dan, our home fixtures secretaries for hosting such a great event. Also a big thank you to Cherie and everyone at Saffron Lane Athletics Track for their help.

  • Stephen Headley for a PB in the 5000m of 16:04

  • Mandy Phillips for a PB in the 800m of 2:42

  • Katie Doull for a PB in the 400m of 70.09

  • Ben Godson and Tom Skedge for competing in new territory of the 3k Steeplechase and Javelin respectively

Open Meet 2016

The 2016 UOLRAC open meet was held on the 5th March. The event was a great success and allowed University athletes to get a qualification time for bucs outdoors coming up in April and also runners of all athletes test out their speed for the upcoming track season!

Thanks to Chris and Declan our home fixtures secs for organising and all the volunteers that helped the event run smoothly, we especially thank Cherie and the Saffron Lane Staff for their help.
